WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (March 6, 2019) – The Finger Lakes Wine Festival presented by Yancey’s Fancy New York’s Artisan Cheese has announced the 2019 enhanced wine seminar lineup, presented by Women for WineSense for Saturday July 13 and Sunday July 14.

Marking their fourth year of official partnership, Women for WineSense has created a unique slate of wine seminars with a focus on what sets New York State wine apart from the rest, and emphasizes the region’s important place in the industry. The seminars are designed to accommodate all levels of knowledge, whether a seasoned wine aficionado or someone just discovering their tastes. To enhance the wine-tasting experience, small bites of food will also be a part of each seminar.

“Our seminars offer a great opportunity for wine lovers to enhance their expertise and see Finger Lakes wine in a different perspective,” Watkins Glen International President Michael Printup said. “We are thrilled to partner with Women for WineSense once again this year. With their support, we have been able to grow the seminar program into what it is today – an educational and tremendous part of our festival.”

All enhanced seminars require an additional ticket purchase, with seats available on a first-come, first-serve basis. They take place on the second floor of the Watkins Glen International media center. More information and tickets for each seminar can be found online at www.flwinefest.com or by calling the ticket office at 866-461-7223. Women for WineSense are also offering a variety of free seminars during the Festival, which can be found at www.flwinefest.com.

This year’s enhanced seminar schedule is as follows:

Rated, Reviewed, and RED!
Saturday, July 13 at 11:00 a.m.
$30 per person
White varieties tend to fare better than reds due to our area’s cooler climate but the days of people not taking the Finger Lakes, as a winemaking region seriously, are over! We will taste six red wines that have received 90+ pts in major wine publications. Let’s talk about the potential of the region, why these wines are so great, and why the wine critics love us.

Riesling, the Finger Lakes Region Claim to Fame
Saturday, July 13 at 2:30 p.m.
$20 per person
Rieslings have helped put the Finger Lakes on the world wine map. Taste for yourself why this is our top varietal and see how food friendly this grape can be. You will be tasting six wines total, with both dry and semi-dry expressions being poured.

Rosé Rediscovered
Sunday, July 14 at 11:30 a.m.
$25 per person
Come explore our featured wine… Rosé! It's not the sweet, pink wine in a box that made you cringe decades ago… BUT a crisp, refreshing, very drinkable wine that’s perfect for a summer evening and pairs amazingly well with food! We will examine six Rosés, from six producers, and discuss the techniques and styles of each wine.
