One Day Trip

Here's how to get a quick taste of what the Finger Lakes area has to offer.

► Start the day at The Corning Museum of Glass, just south of Seneca Lake. Catch a signature glassblowing show--and make your own work of glass art at one of the 10-plus workshops. (3 hours)

► From the Museum, a 10-minute walk deposits you directly on Market Street in Corning's Gaffer District. Have lunch here before browsing the shops and galleries. (1.5 - 2 hours)

► An afternoon is just long enough to drop in on two or three wineries along the Seneca Lake Wine Trail. You'll have the option of exploring downtown Watkins Glen at the south end of the lake, before dinner. (3.5 hours)

► For a picturesque meal along the lake, stay near Watkins Glen. If you prefer your entrée with wide-sweeping views, head to the valleys of Elmira.
