Excelsior Glen is on the outskirts of the village of Watkins Glen. It is undeveloped and necessitates proper footwear and clothing. It actually encompasses several waterfalls, the first being a short distance from Route 414. Although it's a short distance from the road, the difficulty of this trail is moderate to difficult, as it does require streambed walking, slippery surfaces, and again, is totally undeveloped (especially compared to the well-traveled paths at Watkins Glen State Park, for example).

Location:Â Parking and Trailhead: (N 42.39112 / W 76.85559)
Directions:Â From the village of Watkins Glen, head north on Rt 414 past Clute Park, and uphill with Seneca Lake on your left. The glen opening and trail head (not necessairly easy to spot) will come up quickly on your right about a tenth of a mile up the hill. If you reach the junction of Route 79 and 414, then you have gone too far. You can also look this site up on Google maps.
Parking:Â Park near the trail-head alongside Route 414 (space for only a few cars) or downhill across from Cass Road (space for more cars).
