Seneca Lake Wine Trail Members Share the Love
Valentine's opportunities abound around Seneca Lake this month
Watkins Glen, NY - February brings all things Valentine to mind. Whether you love it or love to hate it, the holiday certainly gets the creative juices flowing at our local wineries and many seize the opportunity to offer visitors delicious, educational, and truly enjoyable ways to share the love.
If you prefer to celebrate throughout the month (and how can we blame you?!) Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards in Hector and Zugibe Vineyards just outside of Geneva are both offering delicious pairings throughout the month of February. At Hazlitt, you can enjoy a Bramble Berry brownie paired with Bramble Berry wine. You'll fall in love with these brownies, so be sure to pick up one of the recipe cards so that you can make them at home! At Zugibe Vineyards, enjoy truffle and wine pairings from either the "Old School" (dry reds) or "New School" (a range of wines) flights. They'll also have a "choose your own" option for those who prefer to make their own choices.
Dinner more your style? We have you covered! On Friday, February 14 from 5:30-8:00pm, Atwater Estate Vineyards in Burdett is hosting a low-key, romantic evening featuring wines paired with a specially curated platter including chocolates, cheese, salami bites, nuts, crackers, and olives, for each couple in attendance. At Fox Run Vineyards just south of Geneva, Chef Brud Holland will prepare five courses, each paired with a fantastic wine during their Valentine's Wine Dinner on Friday, February 14 from 6:00-8:00pm. Seats are very limited, so you'll want to get your tickets soon!
If you prefer spontaneity, you can swing into Wagner Vineyards on the east side of Seneca for one of their Special Sweetheart Tastings throughout Valentine's weekend. They'll be featuring several new releases - 2018 Sparkling Riesling, 2016 Meritage, plus their 2018 Dry Rose, all paired with desserts from Puttin' on the Mitts. These tastings are available on a first come, first served basis, beginning February 14 through the weekend (while supplies last!).
Finally, Glenora Wine Cellars on the west side of Seneca near Dundee will have Valentine's-themed options throughout their stunning property, from the winery to the Inn to the restaurant. At the winery, when you buy one Chocolate & Wine Experience, you'll get the second 50% off. At the Inn, their Valentine's Getaway Package makes a wonderful staycation. And at Veraisons, expect to enjoy some incredible specials, including stunning desserts.
