WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (October 1, 2019) – The 31 member wineries of the Seneca Lake Wine Trail are knee-deep in harvest activities, while their administrative office and committees are also hard at work, looking ahead to 2020. The Special Events Committee recently unveiled their 2020 slate of special event weekends and tickets are on sale now at www.senecalakewine.com.
The Trail’s special event weekends are centered on wine and food pairings. Each participating winery crafts a unique food sample matching the weekend’s theme, paired with one of their fantastic wines. The experience is all about discovery and getting to know the wines and wineries of the Seneca Lake Wine Trail. Attendees enjoy a wide variety of wines, while visiting wineries they might not have visited before. Event dates for 2020 include:
- Global Eats and Local Wine: January 17 – 19
- Chocolate and Wine Weekend: February 7 – 9
- Pasta and Wine Weekend: March 20 – 22
- Spring Wine and Cheese Weekend: April 17 – 29
- Smokin’ Summer Kickoff: June 12 – 14
- Deck the Halls: November 20 – 22 and December 4 – 6
The Seneca Lake Wine Trail also partners with the Finger Lakes Cheese Alliance to bring local creameries to a selection of Seneca Lake wineries for two Saturdays, one in February and one in March. On these dates, representatives from each creamery will offer in-depth cheese and wine pairings in participating winery tasting rooms. 2020 dates for these Artisanal Cheese and Wine tastings are February 22 and March 28.
For those looking to visit the Seneca Lake Wine Trail when it’s a bit quieter, consider the Wine Weekday Passport. With a limited quantity available, these passports make it easy to sample at any of the participating 15 wineries. Pay one price for the passport and simply present it at each participating winery, no need to pay additional tasting fees. Wine Weekday Passports are $30 plus tax, valid Monday through Friday from December 9, 2019 through June 30, 2020.
