WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (August 29, 2016) – The in-house singer for the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres, Doug Allen, will perform the Canadian and American anthems during the pre-race of Saturday’s Indy Lights race and Sunday’s Verizon IndyCar Series Grand Prix at The Glen.

Also known as “Anthem Guy”, Allen grew up on a family dairy farm in Cattaraugus County, and began performing when he was just a child. His enthusiastic delivery of “O Canada” and “The Star Spangled Banner” has been thrilling thousands of Sabres fans over 20 years. In addition to his nightly performances on the ice in Buffalo, Allen has also made appearances at several other Buffalo-area sporting events.

While he has become something of a local celebrity for his time with the Sabres, which will continue this fall, Allen’s primary responsibilities include his work as Facilities Coordinator for the Buffalo City Mission and Worship Director at his local church, Fellowship Wesleyan Church in West Seneca, New York.

INDYCAR returns to Watkins Glen International this Labor Day weekend with Indy Lights on Saturday, September 3rd and the stars and cars of the Verizon IndyCar Series in the Grand Prix at The Glen on Sunday, September 4th. Don’t miss Helio Castroneves, Josef Newgarden, Indianapolis 500 winner Alexander Rossi, and many more as they take to the historic twists and turns of The Glen in a race that could go a long way to deciding the 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series championship.
