Finger Lakes Wine Country Tourism Marketing Association, Inc. (“Finger Lakes Wine Country,” “we,” “us,” or “our”)

Effective date: September 22nd, 2026 | Last updated: September 22nd, 2026

1. About This Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Finger Lakes Wine Country collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit www.fingerlakeswinecountry.com (the “Site”), sign up to receive information from us, or otherwise interact with us online. It applies to visitors to the Site (“Visitors”) and to people who register to receive information from us (“Subscribers”).

Please read this policy together with the cookie notice presented on the Site, which explains that cookies are in use, links to the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information control, and lets you change your choices at any time.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide to us

When you request information, subscribe to our newsletter or travel guide, enter a promotion, or contact us, we may collect the information you choose to give us, which may include:

  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • Mailing address
  • Phone number, and any other information you include in a form or message

Providing this information is voluntary. If you ask to receive information from us, you become a Subscriber, and you may unsubscribe or ask us to delete your information at any time (see Section 8).

2.2 Information collected automatically

When you use the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect certain information through cookies and similar technologies, including:

  • Device and browser information, such as browser type, operating system, and device identifiers
  • Internet Protocol (IP) address and general location derived from it
  • Internet service provider and referring or exit pages
  • Usage and behavioral information, such as the pages you view, links you click, time spent on the Site, and the site you visited before ours

The categories of automatically collected information, and the tools that collect them, are described in Sections 3 and 4.

3. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We also use similar technologies such as pixels, tags, and software development kits. We group these technologies into the categories below. You control the non-essential categories through the consent banner on the Site.

CategoryPurposeConsent required?
Strictly necessaryEnable core Site functions such as page navigation, security, and remembering your consent choices. The Site cannot function properly without these.No. Always active.
AnalyticsHelp us understand how the Site is used so we can measure and improve performance, such as which pages are most visited and how visitors arrive.No. Analytics is on by default. You may opt out at any time using the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link or the cookie preferences control.
Marketing / advertisingMeasure advertising effectiveness and deliver more relevant advertising to you on other sites and platforms, including through remarketing.No. Advertising cookies are on by default for visitors outside the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. You may opt out at any time using the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link or the cookie preferences control.

Managing your choices. When you first visit the Site, a notice tells you that cookies are in use and links to Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information, which opens the cookie preferences control. There you can opt out of analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or both. You can reopen the control at any time from the cookie icon shown on every page. If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, both analytics and advertising cookies are off until you accept them.

How the tools behave if you opt out. Google Analytics, our website behavior tool and our advertising tools run by default. If you opt out of a category, the tools in that category stop from that point: no further cookies are set, you are not identified, and no further page, event or interaction data from your visit is received. A minimal technical signal recording your consent choice may still be sent to Google. Cookies set before you opted out expire on their own schedule, and you can delete them in your browser at any time.

Who provides the banner. The cookie notice and the cookie preferences control are provided by CookieYes, a product of CookieYes Limited, a company based in the United Kingdom. It stores your choices in a strictly necessary cookie so the Site can remember them on later visits.

4. Analytics and Advertising Tools We Use

We use the following third-party tools on the Site. Each provider processes information under its own privacy policy. This list was verified against the Site’s tag manager on 31 August 2026 and matches what actually runs on the Site.

  • Google Analytics 4 (analytics). Measures Site traffic and usage. On by default; you can opt out through the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link or the cookie preferences control at any time. See the Google Privacy Policy. You can also install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
  • Google Ads and remarketing (marketing). Measures ad performance and delivers remarketing. On by default outside the EEA, UK and Switzerland; opt out through the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link. Governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
  • Meta Pixel (marketing). Measures and delivers advertising on Facebook and Instagram. On by default outside the EEA, UK and Switzerland; opt out through the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link. See the Meta Privacy Policy.
  • Crazy Egg (analytics). Records how visitors interact with pages, including clicks, scrolling and navigation, so we can improve layout and content. Loads unless you have opted out of analytics cookies.
  • Google Tag Manager. Manages how the tags above are deployed and applies your consent choices.

If we add an advertising or analytics tool in future, for example on another social platform, we will update this section before it goes live.

5. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to your inquiries and fulfill your requests for information, including newsletters and travel guides
  • Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site and our content
  • Understand how visitors find and use the Site so we can measure and improve marketing performance, unless you have opted out of analytics
  • Measure the effectiveness of, and deliver, advertising, including remarketing, unless you have opted out
  • Communicate with you about the region, events, and offers related to Finger Lakes Wine Country, where permitted
  • Comply with law and protect the rights, safety, and property of our visitors, subscribers, and organization

6. How We Share Information

Sale and sharing. We do not sell your personal information for money. However, the use of advertising cookies to deliver and measure advertising across other sites and platforms may be treated as a “sale” or a “share” under California law, and we treat it as such. See Section 8 for how to opt out.

We may share information as described below.

  • Service providers. Vendors that host the Site, send our emails, and provide analytics and advertising services, acting on our behalf and under contract.
  • Analytics and advertising platforms. The providers listed in Section 4, unless you have opted out of the relevant category.
  • Regional partners, with your permission. If you opt in to receive additional travel information from our partners when you submit a request, we share your contact information with those partner organizations so they can send you information about their business. Our partner organizations are the member businesses and destination partners of Finger Lakes Wine Country, including wineries, lodging, restaurants, attractions, tour operators, wine trails, and county tourism organizations. You can ask us at any time for the current list, or ask us to stop sharing your information.
  • Affiliated agencies and our Board of Directors. Aggregate and demographic Site-usage information may be shared with our marketing agency, affiliated agencies, and Board of Directors to evaluate Site performance and audience.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information to comply with a court order, subpoena, or lawful request from a government or law enforcement agency, or when reasonably necessary to protect the safety of our visitors and subscribers or to protect our rights.

7. Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required by law.

  • Analytics data. Google Analytics user and event data is retained for fourteen months, after which it is deleted on a rolling basis. Aggregate reporting may be retained longer.
  • Subscriber contact information. Retained until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or until it is no longer needed for the purpose you provided it.
  • Advertising and website behavior tools. Retention is governed by each provider’s policy, as referenced in Section 4.

8. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

8.1 Choices available to everyone

  • Cookie and tracking preferences. Opt out of analytics or advertising cookies at any time through the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link or the cookie preferences control on the Site.
  • Email. Unsubscribe using the link in any of our emails, or by contacting us using Section 14.
  • Industry opt-outs. Opt out of interest-based advertising through the Digital Advertising Alliance and the Network Advertising Initiative.
  • Access and deletion. Ask us to access or delete the personal information we hold about you by contacting us using Section 14.

8.2 Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

Because our advertising activity may constitute a sale or share of personal information under California law, you may opt out. To do so, use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link on the Site, which opens the cookie preferences control, or contact us using Section 14. We also honor the Global Privacy Control browser signal as an opt-out request.

8.3 California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose
  • Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal exceptions
  • Request correction of inaccurate personal information
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, including cross-context behavioral advertising, as described in Section 8.2
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising your rights

To exercise these rights, contact us using Section 14. We will verify your request before responding, and you may use an authorized agent where the law allows.

9. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a Global Privacy Control signal or a “Do Not Track” setting. We treat the Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information, as described in Section 8.2. Because there is no common industry standard for Do Not Track signals, the Site may not respond to all of them.

10. Third-Party Links

The Site contains links to other websites, including partner and member sites. When you follow a link, you leave our Site, and this policy no longer applies. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any site you visit, as their practices may differ from ours.

11. Audience and Responsible Enjoyment

This site promotes wine tourism in the Finger Lakes Region. Must be 21 to consume alcohol. Please enjoy responsibly and never drink and drive.

The Site is intended for a general adult audience interested in wine-country travel and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us using Section 14 and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

12. Data Security

We audit our security systems and processes on a regular basis and take commercially reasonable measures to maintain a secure Site. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Electronic communications and databases are subject to errors, tampering, and unauthorized access, and we cannot guarantee that these events will not occur.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in law, technology, or our practices. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
