Finger Lakes Wines

The Finger Lakes is a world-class wine producing region that specializes in aromatic white varieties like Riesling and Gewurztraminer. And of late, the region is also finding exciting success with cool-climate reds like Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir. The terroir of the Finger Lakes is special because of the microclimates created by the lakes -- extreme cold weather in the winter is avoided and warm breezy days during the summer help ripen the grapes. Limestone-laced soils give Finger Lakes wines a distinctive taste.

Riesling Rocks

Riesling Rocks in the Finger Lakes!
Riesling is the king of the Finger Lakes. The microclimates around the three major lakes (Keuka, Seneca, and Cayuga) combined with warm summers and cool winters, create the perfect climate and growing conditions for Riesling. In the past few years, helped along by a growing national wine trend toward lighter, more food-friendly wines, the Rieslings from the Finger Lakes have garnered praise from Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Food & Wine, Wine & Spirits, Decanter, among others, and have won many prestigious medals at national and international wine competitions.  Learn more why Finger Lakes is Riesling Country from our partners at the Finger Lakes Wine Alliance.
