Overlook Cottage

Are you looking to "get away from it all," where you can truly relax, unplug, and forget about the hustle and bustle of everyday life? If so, then "Overlook Cottage" is what you are looking for!

Overlook Cottage is a traditional summertime cottage situated on a large, extremely quiet and forested tract of land on the west side of Seneca Lake, approximately 15 minutes north of Watkins Glen. Sitting on the bluff, Overlook is shaded all-around by trees (so it stays nice and cool, even in the heat of summer). The full-length, screened-in porch overlooking the lake is the perfect spot to relax, read, nap, eat dinner, and play cards or games. (We promise, it will become your favorite spot!) Inside, a warm and inviting combined kitchen/living area has large windows opening out to porch for outside views from inside the cottage. The kitchen is fully stocked should you want to cook in, and the living area is set up so you can watch your favorite DVD. Completing the cottage are two smaller-sized double bed/rooms and a renovated bathroom complete with shower.

Outside the cottage, you'll find parking (on same level as cottage), a clothesline, campfire ring, and BBQ grill. You're also a few steps away from a multi-level staircase that takes you down to your very own dock and beach area, complete with another campfire ring (campfire wood provided). It's the perfect place to sit around the fire, watch the shooting stars, and view the Milky Way!

Because we're so secluded, your nearest neighbors will be the multitudes of birds and wildlife -- herons, owls, ospreys, salamanders, pileated woodpeckers, and more will delight adults and children alike. Overlook's size makes it perfect for two adults; our most common renters are couples with or without one or two young children. We are "no frills" compared to most other cottages you'll find, but our guests tell us that the "forced relaxation" is what they love most. No clocks, no TV stations or cable, and no internet give you the perfect opportunity to unplug and get away from it all. Instead, you can focus on relaxing in the water, relaxing on the porch, and visiting the many wonderful wineries within a few minutes drive.

If you're visiting the region's wineries, you'll find that we are perfectly situated right in the middle of Seneca Lake Wine Country with plenty of large and small wineries on both Seneca and Keuka Lakes within easy driving distance. In fact, you won't find another location so close to so many great wineries. Our close proximity to Watkins Glen, Ithaca, Geneva, and Corning and their many activities is also great, making our cottage the perfect spot for your vacation getaway. There are many more activities to be found in the surrounding area.
