Bet the Farm started as an idea for a shop to fill a vacant storefront in the Village of Aurora. It needed to be a good fit for the locals and the college, and have some appeal for the many tourists that visit the area. We set our sights on a shop that would feature regional foods and wines.
We started in September of 2006 and by mid-May of 2007 we finally had all of the licenses and certificates required to operate our store in its entirety. During our short history, my staff and I have learned a great deal about Finger Lakes wines and the fine culinary products that are being produced throughout the state of New York. It is indeed an honor to represent each of the wineries and businesses that are making such amazing products.
In addition to great products, our shop also has its own unique style. For the most part, you get to try it before you buy it. All of us that work here are passionate about food and wine. We not only offer our products but our ideas about how to pair certain wines with foods or cheeses. We also pass along recipe ideas from the producers or the ones we’ve come up with ourselves or the ones we’ve heard back from our customers.
We also ask that you keep us in mind while shopping for gifts – whether for the holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, or hostess gifts, or thank you gifts , or just because…– we can surely find something that will fit the occasion.
We have worked hard (well, if you consider shopping hard work) to bring together a quality selection of products – something for everyone’s palate and everyone’s purse.
