Family Sparkle at the Rockwell Museum of Western Art, December 5, 2009
Corning, NY – The Rockwell Museum of Western Art will host Family Sparkle from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday December 5. Activities are inspired by the newest temporary exhibition Las Artes de Mexico. Throughout the afternoon, a series of activities will be available free of charge:

- Journey through the galleries with the Art Hunt – Locate all the objects on the art hunt and win a prize!
- Make a craft in the Education Center – Participate in an ancient Mexican tradition by creating a colorful craft made of Popsicle sticks and yarn called *Ojo de Dios, or God’s Eyes.
- View the newest temporary exhibition, Las Artes de Mexico! Celebrating the rich and diverse artistic traditions of Mexico, this exhibition examines over 3,500 years of art and culture. From the ancient worlds of the Mayans and Aztecs to the 20th Century works, Las Artes de Mexico illuminates over three millennia of tradition and change across the broad spectrum of Mexican life.
- Shop for a unique gift in the Museum Trading Post Shop! Find unique gifts at the one-day only Jewelry Trunk Show and Sale, featuring fine Native American made silver and turquoise jewelry created by individual artists from Arizona and New Mexico.
- Take your picture with two Western Cowgirls! Making an appearance will be Diamond Lilly riding her horse Dixie & Rodeo Rose riding her horse Sunset!
Accredited by the American Association of Museums, the Rockwell Museum of Western Art is located in the center of the Finger Lakes Wine Country of New York Sate and in the heart of Corning’s Gaffer District. The Museum is open to the public seven days a week; hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Membership to the Museum includes yearlong free admission.
