More Information

We see a “vintage” as the sum of many factors. Winter temps, budbreak, and the myriad of weather patterns and changes only begin to scratch the surface. Each harvest, our goal is to produce wines that are concurrently reflective of vintage and consistent with our estate. We find that it is often the case that our initial judgments on vintage can change as the wines themselves evolve in bottle. If you have been following our wines, vintage to vintage, then our discussion will truly be illuminating. In this seminar we take a look at vintage and compare and discuss wines from both warm and cool vintages, observing their unique qualities and characteristics. What a concept to unravel!

Space is limited & reservations are required. For tickets, email Jen Menges at jenny@wiemer.com or call the winery Monday- Friday, at (607) 243-7971 and ask for Jen or Theresa.

Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard is a pioneer of viticulture and winemaking in the Finger Lakes. Founded in 1979 by German-born winemaker Hermann J. Wiemer, the estate has gained national and international attention for the quality of its wines and the soundness of its growing practices. Located on the western slope of Seneca Lake, our vineyards feature a distinct minerality and showcase the diverse soils for which the region is renowned. The main tasting area is part of our production facilities, giving guests the opportunity to see part of the winemaking process in action. Housed in a 19th century scissor-truss barn, the tasting room harkens back to the agricultural legacy of the area and our estate. A winter tasting room has recently been added with a view of the press pad and the HJW vineyard. Guests are encouraged to call ahead and groups of seven or more require a reservation most days of the week.
