More Information

Artist Bridget Bossart van Otterloo - Painter and Poet Michael Czarnecki are excited to share the work created during their Plein Air Painting and Poetry: Steuben County 2018 Project in this exhibit at 171 Cedar Arts Center. The exhibit will be on view from October 22nd through November 16th, 2018.

Starting in Spring 2018, we traveled together to 10 different locations around Steuben County to create a work of art in that location: Bridget a Plein Air painting, Michael a Plein Air Poem. Our 10 locations are: Houghton Land Preserve, Chemung River, Keuka Lake, Canisteo River Valley, a Corning Alley-way, Spencer Crest Nature Center, Pinnacle State Park/McCarthy Hill State Forest, Dennison Park Corning, Mossy Bank Park And Nature Center, and Wheeler Hill.

171 Cedar Art Center's Houghton Gallery is one of the area's premier visual arts venues. The gallery presents engaging work by living contemporary artists, primarily from the greater Finger Lakes region. Exhibitions, opening receptions, and gallery talks are free of charge. Special lectures and group tours can be arranged. Since first opening the Bruce House doors in 1968, 171 Cedar Arts Center has provided the community with a warm, friendly home in which to explore the arts. Over the years, with help from our supporters and our outstanding faculty we’ve grown into an award-winning organization that provides top-quality programming and instruction. But, along the way, we have preserved a distinct, hometown flavor that makes access to the arts comfortable for everyone.
