Throughout the month of October, regional middle-school Spanish Language students visit The Rockwell, learn about Oaxacan culture and traditions, and create decorative objects for their own Dia de Los Muertos student altar, on display in The Rockwell’s Student Gallery. This educational initiative integrates cultural traditions with classroom education and creates an opportunity for students to connect an artistic experience, all while learning outside of the classroom. The month culminates in The Rockwell’s annual celebration of Dia de los Muertos (The Day of the Dead), a Mexican holiday steeped in tradition that honors friends and family members through art, dance and festive foods. Don’t miss out!
