More Information

Civic Music subscribers in 2006 will never forget the sounds and sights of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band winding its way through the auditorium and up into the balcony, with ebullient audience members in tow. In honor of New Orleans’ 300th anniversary, we are bringing this beloved group back for our own 90th celebration. Over a half century after its beginnings on Bourbon Street, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band continues to honor the musical traditions of New Orleans, even as the ensemble’s lineup has evolved. The band has stayed fresh by exploring crossover styles including gospel, funky R&B, and Afro-Cuban beats. The group has performed at contemporary music festivals such as Coachella and Bonnaroo, and appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
