More Information

Chocolate is the confectionery match to wine. Perhaps this is because the process of making chocolate is very similar to wine. Both cocoa beans and wine are fermented with the very same type of yeast, so it’s no wonder there are so many wine and chocolate lovers!  Despite the affinity for one another, many wine and chocolate pairings fight for the same ‘palate space’ making it somewhat challenging to pair wine and chocolate together. For example, if you taste a delicious glass of dry red wine alongside a hunk of dark chocolate, the wine may start to taste bitter while wines like light bodied Pinot Noir and Late Harvest Riesling pair well with the most popular chocolates.

For this year’s Chocolate & Wine, 26 participating wineries are going to offer food dishes prepared with chocolate, enabling a larger range of pairing experiences!  Each ticket holder will receive a food sample with 3 samples of wine, at each winery you visit! A designated driver ticket will be offered a non-alcoholic beverage.

Seneca Lake Wine Trail

Surrounding the sapphire waters of Seneca Lake, our 34 wineries invite you to experience a destination rich in history, beauty, and the production of world-class wines. Our climate supports not only the growth of hardy native grapes and premium hybrids, but also more delicate varieties such as Riesling, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir. Along the Seneca Lake Wine Trail you will truly find a wine to suit every taste. We recently made the decision to start selling all event tickets through our partner Eventbrite, committing wholly to e-ticketing. This not only means that you must now literally start at your chosen starting winery, something that might take our long time event attendees awhile to get used too, but also that no longer do you need to wait a couple weeks for tickets to arrive. When you buy your event tickets online, they're purchased instantly, with a receipt emailed to you in real-time that will be used by the attendee to acquire their actual tickets, at their starting winery, during the event.
