More Information

Chocolate is the confectionery match to wine. Perhaps this is because the process of making chocolate is very similar to wine. Both cocoa beans and wine are fermented with the very same type of yeast, so it’s no wonder there are so many wine and chocolate lovers!  Despite the affinity for one another, many wine and chocolate pairings fight for the same ‘palate space’ making it somewhat challenging to pair wine and chocolate together. For example, if you taste a delicious glass of dry red wine alongside a hunk of dark chocolate, the wine may start to taste bitter while wines like light bodied Pinot Noir and Late Harvest Riesling pair well with the most popular chocolates.

For this year’s Chocolate & Wine, 26 participating wineries are going to offer food dishes prepared with chocolate, enabling a larger range of pairing experiences!  Each ticket holder will receive a food sample with 3 samples of wine, at each winery you visit! A designated driver ticket will be offered a non-alcoholic beverage.
