More Information

A presentation by Dr. Edward A. Mainzer for the Corning-Painted Post Historical Society and Southside Neighborhood Association.

Corning and Painted Post are full of great architecture in a wide variety of styles. This illustrated talk will explore our designated landmarks as well as some buildings that could be landmarks! We’ll also discuss the meaning of historic preservation, including the New York State Historic Homeownership Rehabilitation Tax Credit program which encourages homeowners in historic districts to renovate while imposing no restrictions on future development.

Dr. Edward A. Mainzer has undergraduate and graduate degrees in history as well as a second master’s and a doctorate in education; he serves as a member of the City of Corning Historic Preservation Commission.
