The McBees Knees cocktail recipe was created to toast a collaboration between Finger Lakes Distilling and Lucky Hare Brewing Company. Lucky Hare aged their doppelbock-style lager in a Finger Lakes Distilling rye whiskey barrel, and once it was empty, the barrel was used again to finish a 3-year-old rye whiskey for about 4 weeks. The dark German-style lager picked up nuances of the rye whiskey, and the typical spice from the standard rye whiskey was perfectly balanced by the malty sweetness of the beer.

2 oz McKenzie Pure Pot Still Whiskey
0.5 oz simple syrup (1 part sugar, 3 parts Lucky Hare Old Ale — reduced to syrup)
0.5 oz fresh lemon
1 tsp honey
