WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (January 25, 2016) – In July, the Finger Lakes Wine Festival presented by Yancey’s Fancy New York’s Artisan Cheese will be celebrating 20 years of showcasing New York wines.
Last fall, Watkins Glen International announced an art contest that sought work reflecting wine and the Finger Lakes Region with a “throwback style” to represent the Festival’s 20th year, with one winner to be featured on the official event poster and other promotional mediums.
Meredith Mallwitz, an artist from Canandaigua, N.Y. was selected as the grand prize winner for her piece, which will be debuted publicly on the 20th anniversary Finger Lakes Wine Festival presented by Yancey’s Fancy New York’s Artisan Cheese poster later this year.
“The Finger Lakes region of New York is amazing and wine is among the area’s greatest assets,” Mallwitz said upon learning of her selection. “Watkins Glen International’s Finger Lakes Wine Festival is a great showcase of both. I’m honored to have my art chosen in support of this event.”
Mallwitz’s winning artwork earned her a pair of 2-Day Taster’s Passes to the event, booth space during the weekend to showcase her art, greet fans, and sign posters, and inclusion in the Taster’s Guide, which is distributed to all guests upon admission to the Festival.
“Meredith’s artwork represents the spirit of the Finger Lakes Wine Festival,” said Michael Printup, President of Watkins Glen International. “We are excited to recognize a local artist for her talent and thrilled to feature Meredith’s artwork on our 20th anniversary poster and Taster’s Guide during the event.”
The Finger Lakes Wine Festival presented by Yancey’s Fancy New York’s Artisan Cheese returns to Watkins Glen International July 15-17, 2016. For more information and ticket options, visit www.flwinefest.com or call 866-461-7223.
