WATKINS GLEN, NY (April 26, 2017) – To some, wine and racetracks are mutually exclusive. One can be associated with quiet indulgence, relaxation, and elegance, while the other evokes images of intensity, competition, and action.
Clearly, those people haven’t been to Watkins Glen International and the Finger Lakes Wine Festival presented by Yancey’s Fancy New York’s Artisan Cheese.
From July 14-16, one of the most historic and storied circuits in the world will transform into a celebration of more than 90 New York state wineries, in addition to musicians, regional chefs, food purveyors, craft vendors and visitors from around the United States.
Now in its 21st year, the Finger Lakes Wine Festival presented by Yancey's Fancy New York's Artisan Cheese has become a can’t-miss destination for wine enthusiasts, couples, groups of friends, and all those in search of an unforgettable experience surrounded by the natural beauty of upstate New York. Last summer, it was voted America’s “Best Wine Festival” by readers of the USA Today.
“Some people don’t even know, or forget, that they’re at a racetrack during the weekend,” said Watkins Glen International President Michael Printup. “That’s what an immersive experience the Finger Lakes Wine Festival is. We have the best in New York state wineries, live music, food trucks, vendors, pace car rides, and more. There is something for everyone at this event, and it’s amazing to see it grow each and every year.”
The festival was established at the New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls, New York before it was taken over by Watkins Glen International in 1996. Since then, it has blossomed into the East Coast’s largest tasting event focusing on New York State wines, crafts, and cuisine and is a six-time recipient of the American Bus Association’s Top 100 event designation.
This year’s Finger Lakes Wine Festival kicks off on Friday, July 14 with the Yancey’s Fancy Launch of The Lakes party. The festival’s “Opening Night” is complete with an opportunity to win a variety of prizes in the toga contest, and two individuals will also be crowned as the 2017 King and Queen of the Finger Lakes Wine Festival. Tickets start at $20 for this unique evening of live music, wine tasting previews, and more.
