WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (March 14, 2016) – The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 – Chevrolet’s most capable model in its history – will serve as the official pace car of the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, leading the field to green at Watkins Glen International on Sunday, July 3.

The Corvette Z06 set a new standard for world-class supercars. It features a combination of design, technology and performance that rivals the most exotic performance cars at a fraction of the price. With a Chevrolet small-block V-8 that produces 650 horsepower and 650 lb/ft of torque, the Corvette Z06 is the first front-engine, rear-wheel drive car to break the three-second barrier in the 0-60 acceleration test at 2.9 seconds.

“We are proud to have the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 pacing the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen,” said Jeff Chew, Manager – Strategic Planning & Operations for Chevrolet Racing. “Watkins Glen International and the Chevrolet Corvette are two iconic brands that are synonymous with high levels of performance. This is another great avenue for us to highlight our involvement with Watkins Glen and IMSA through our Corvette GT Le Mans and Corvette DP programs, our Corvette Racing Display and our Corvette Corral for our Corvette owners.”

The Corvette Z06 was designed alongside the Corvette C7.R GTLM cars for Corvette Racing, which won the 2014 Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen and opened 2016 with a 1-2 finish in class at the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA®

The Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen is one of four stops on the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup circuit, a championship within the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship.

“We’re thrilled to have Chevrolet supplying our official pace car of the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen,” said WGI President Michael Printup. “What a sight it’s going to be in July – a 2016 Corvette Z06 leading a field of some of the world’s most advanced prototypes and GT sports cars to the green on our brand new surface.”

The Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen weekend features Round 3 of the Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup (IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship), in addition to the Continental Tire 150 (Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge), Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, Mazda Prototype Lites, and Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA.
