If you’d rather keep your feet on the ground, try out some state of the art, hands-on flight simulators at the National Soaring Museum located directly adjacent to the Soaring Center atop Harris Hill. The National Soaring Museum is home to the largest collection of gliders and sailplanes in the world and their library houses the official archive of the Soaring Society of America. Every summer, the museum hosts the Eileen Collins Aerospace Camp, a week-long summer day camp for 9-14 year olds inspired by Eileen Collins, an Elmira native and the first female NASA pilot and shuttle commander. The National Soaring Museum is open daily from 10 AM to 5 PM. Admission rates are $6.50 / Adults, $5.50 / Senior (60+), $4.00 / Youth, children 4 and under are Free. The Family Rate (2 Adults / 2 Children) is $18.00. AAA discount is available.
